Call me Raja. I’m the Feline Rescue office resident, and a Senior Citizen. I was nominated by my fellow senior residents to let you know that November is Adopt a Senior Pet Month. That means all the humans here at Feline Rescue want to try to increase visibility for cats like me who have lost their long-time homes and now find themselves living at a shelter.
Living in the office is OK, I guess, but what we seniors really want is a nice lap and a quiet household to enjoy our golden years. We’ve been through some tough times; some of us have seen our human companions pass away; some have been left outdoors to fend for ourselves – each of us has a different story. What we all share is the need for love and stability; we still have plenty of love left to give back.
Feline Rescue is a no-kill shelter and that means that no matter what, senior cats like me will not be put down just because we’re old and not as fun and cute as those rascally youngsters. Seniors like me are harder to place; believe me I’ve seen many cats come and go while I’ve waited for my chance at my own forever home. Waiting makes me sad sometimes, but I remain hopeful that my human is out there somewhere.
For those humans who truly support the idea of a no-kill animal shelter, we ask you to search your heart and see if you have a place in your life for a senior cat. Feline Rescue provided a safety net to keep us out of harm’s way, but that’s only part of the story. The missing part of the story and the happy ending is YOU.
P.S. -- If you’re interested in taking me home, I promise not to climb the curtains or tear around the house at top speed. I do have to warn you though; my favorite napping spot is on top of the office printer. I bet we could find a way to share the one at your house.
